Tom graduated from Western Michigan University in 1976 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Finance. Tom joined his family’s real estate business in 1977, starting in residential sales and eventually becoming the President of Hacker Realty. In 1983 Hacker Realty became the first Coldwell Banker franchise in Lansing. During his real estate career, Tom earned the following designations; Certified Real Estate Broker, Graduate of Real Estate Institute, and e-Pro. Tom spent seven years as a director with the Greater Lansing Board of Realtors, and served as President of the local Association in 1994. In 1995 Tom was selected as Realtor of The Year. After a successful 20-year career in real estate, Tom and his family sold the business in 1996. Tom joined BriarWood Realty in 1997 as Vice President. During Tom’s ten-year-run at BriarWood Realty, Tom helped grow the organization by 300 percent. Tom joined Providence Mortgage Company in 2007 and is now a Mortgage Banker with Dart Bank.
Tom has been an active member of the Lansing Rotary club for over 20 years. Tom is dedicated to serving the community, having served as chairman of the Metro YMCA and Highfields, Inc. Tom’s family includes his wife Marsha of 35 years, and sons Nate and Ross. Tom has four granddaughter; his hobbies include spending time with his family at Otsego Lake, golf and gardening.
